While it’s always fun to explore different hair styles, not every style is going to work for your face shape. There are several different face shapes that are all accentuated by certain longer or shorter styles. The Style Room, in Brielle, New Jersey loves experimenting and having fun with styles and color. We also know that the first step to style selection is face shape. That’s why we have compiled some tips for you to get the right style for your face.
Let’s take a look at the six face shapes:
• Oval – This face shape has a slightly narrower jaw line than the top of the face. The good thing about this shape is that you can wear a variety of styles well. Whether it’s a short style, or a long style, avoid bangs because this may hide features of the oval shape. Celebrities with the oval face shape include Jennifer Anniston, Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz.
• Rectangle – This is a long and slender face shape with generally equal widths throughout the face. If you have a rectangular face, try a short to medium style and avoid long styles. A shorter cut with take away some of the length of the face. Celebrities with the rectangular face include Gwenyth Paltrow and Janet Jackson.
• Round – The round shape is a full face with a round chin and hairline. If this is your face shape, avoid chin length styles. You also want to avoid bangs that go straight across the forehead. Try an off center part with hair moving toward the back of your head. Celebrities with a round face include Kate Winslet, Drew Barrymore and Christina Ricci.
• Square – This shape has a square jaw line with an equally square hairline. Short to medium length hair works best with the square face. Try a wave or rounded style around your face. Off center parts also look great on this shape. Avoid long straight hair styles if you have a square face. Celebrities with the square face include Demi Moore and Sandra Bullock.
• Heart – The heart shape face is wide at the hairline and narrows at the chin. Those with the heart shape face should consider chin length and longer styles. Chin length bobs are great styles to for the heart shape face. Those with this shape should avoid short styles that accentuate the top of the face. Celebrities with the heart shape face include Michelle Pfeiffer, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Lisa Kudrow.
• Triangular – This shape is much the opposite of the heart shape with a wider jaw line and narrower hairline. Try shorter styles if you have this face shape. Shag styles and styles with lots of layers do well with triangular faces. Triangular faces, don’t hide your ears, they actually draw attention to your eyes! Avoid long full styles with this shape. Celebrities with the triangular face shape include Kathy Ireland.

When you’re busy getting your wardrobe and beach body ready for this summer, don’t forget about your hair! Preparing your locks for this season is essential.  Here are five tips to keep your hair looking good all summer, even in the sun and unbearable heat!

Freshen up.  Before summer starts, make sure that you get a trim.  No need to chop it all off, but summer is the season to freshen up your tips.  While split ends might go unnoticed during a dreary winter, the summer sun will unfortunately expose your damaged hair.

On September 8, 2010, NYC’s famed Lincoln Center was buzzing with the wildy anticipated production of Fashion’s Night Out.  Fashion royalty and Hollywood star power descended uptown to witness the largest ever fashion show in NY history organized by the one and only Vogue’s, Ana Wintour. Among the 170 models, Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Adriana Lima, Karolina Kurkova and a handful of other supermodels arrived at the show atop a red, double-decker tour bus wearing FNO t-shirts and a variety of elaborate skirts designed by the likes of Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta.

As the show progressed,150 other models briskly showed off the different trends of the Spring season, including Fifties Flair, Tartan Twist, Pure At Heart, Weekend Wrap-Up, Rock Chic, Go Global and Jazz-Age Cool. In the middle of the madness, Antonio Casale and team were backstage dressing the hair of Alek Wek who endured a fur hat on the warm, humid evening to show off “Go Global style.”

A few days later, Casale found himself backstage at the 2 most notoriously popular shows of the week, Marc Jacobs, and Marc by Marc. With a make up team headed by Francois Nars himself and Guido on hair, Casale worked on looks that combined the 70’s and 30’s themes seen throughout Marc’s collection.  The beauty looks seamlessly intertwined the prim and proper lady of the ’30s and the effortless chic aesthetic of the 70’s. The Marc Jacobs collection was purely 70’s, taking references from Bianca Jagger and Jodie Foster from the 1976 film Taxi Driver, New York Dolls, Antonio Lopez, Yves Saint Laurent, and Calvin Klein. The result is a sexy collection pumped up with vibrant summery colors, wide-legged trousers, sheer kaftans, frizzy hair, with oversized hats and flower corsages.

September 2010, Brielle, NJ – On September 7 in New York City’s Lincoln Center, Antonio Casale from The Style Room supported Guido, Redken Creative Consultant, and styled hair backstage at Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out Fashion Show – the largest fashion show in New York City history!  The show, hosted by Vogue as part of the kick-off to New York Fashion Week and Fashion’s Night Out, featured more than 170 looks highlighting the hottest styles from Fall/Winter 2010 with star-studded celebs in attendance and top runway models strutting the catwalk!

Antonio Casale from The Style Room was among a group of hand-selected stylists working backstage with Guido to create seven progressive hairstyles fashioned to perfection on the top models in the industry: “Fifties Flair,” “Rocker Chic,” “Weekend Wrap-Up,” “Pure of Heart,” “Tartan Twist,” “Go Global,” “Super Model,” and “Jazz Age Cool.”

“Being a part of the Vogue Fashion’s Night Out backstage hair team allowed me to sharpen my hairstyling skills and find inspiration in runway hair trends,” says Casale. “I learned how to take inspiration from exaggerated runway styles and create wearable styles for my clients – I can’t wait to get started!”
